Also called: Bloodwort, Redroot, Red Puccoon, Pauson, Tetterwort

 

Medicinal Uses: It has been used as a home treatment of skin cancer. It is now used commercially in many dental hygiene products for its antibacterial and anti-plaque properties. It has also been shown to help gingivitis.

Folklore/History: This plant was historically used by the Native Americans as a source of healing and in Colonial America as a wart remover. The Indians would also use this a a ritual skin paint or war paint.
